This is a list of approved schools in Kenya. Approved schools are institutions that admit children who have been found guilty of committing crimes. They admit children above 10 years and below 15 years.

Those between 15-18 years are sent to borstal institutions which are under the prisons department. Approved schools are under the department of children’s services.

Here is a list of approved schools in Kenya.

1. Kabete Approved School

The school was established by the colonial government between 1910-1912 in Lower Kabete. It was later renamed as Kabete Rehabilitation school. It is a public boarding primary school run by the national government.

2. Wamumu Approved School

It is located in Mwea, Kirinyaga County. It is a public boys boarding primary school that teaches the 8-4-4 curriculum.

3. Kakamega Rehab School

It is a public boys boarding primary school located in Bukhungu, Kakamega County. It is run by the national government.

4. Othaya Rehabilitation School

The school is located in Nyeri. It is a boys boarding primary school sponsored by the central government.

5. Likoni Rehabilitation School

It is a public primary school for boys that teaches using the 8-4-4 curriculum. It is located in Likoni, Mombasa County.

6. Kirigiti Girls Rehabilitation School

This is a girl’s public primary school located in Kiambu County. Girls at the school are taught the 8-4-4 curriculum and also get a chance to acquire vocational skills.

7. Kisumu Approved School

It is a public primary school that ensures admitted children are empowered to live amicably in society as law-abiding citizens. It is located in Kisumu County.

8. Kericho Approved School

This is a public primary school located in Ainamoi. It is a mixed primary school.

9. Gitathuru Approved School

It is a public primary school located near Kariobangi, in Nairobi County. Children at the school get the chance to play, learn and undergo counselling.

10. Dagoretti Girls Rehabilitation School

The school is located in Kikuyu. It is a public primary school for girls only.
